Amberly Studios, Canberra’s newest recording studio, is located south of the city within the Murrumbidgee corridor and is afforded with views from its rural grassland setting to mountain ranges beyond. The studio was designed by local experts and then built by Guyy and Adam Lilleyman, who also run the studio as producer and engineer.
Amberly Studios engaged GUZ BOX design + audio early in the project development to provide acoustic design advice for the new studio. GUZ BOX provided acoustic assessment and detailed acoustic analysis of the studio spaces followed by modelling and product recommendations.
An important consideration was to provide a studio environment sympathetic to recording of acoustic instruments. The clients favoured a warm room, maintaining a ‘live’ feel without excessive acoustic absorption typically found in other studios.
The recommended internal material finishes provide a cost effective acoustic solution to meet the performance requirements of the client. Installed materials include DecorLini slotted timber linings and DecorTone as manufactured by Decor Systems, with additional fabric-faced polyester wall panels from CSR Martini.
The success of the studio is evident in the calibre of recording artists using the facilities with several albums already released in the short time since opening.

EASE Training Singapore 2017: It has been great spending time in Singapore this week working through AFMG's EASE software with attendees. The event was hosted and run at the very well quipped training room of d&b audiotechnik Asia Pacific, with attendees coming from Singapore, Malaysia, India and Japan. Training was provided over a three day program and worked through the EASE software platform and associated modules including Ray Tracing, AURA and Auralization. It is hoped that the training will provide confidence for all attendees as they consider the use of EASE software in their future projects.
